Raise your glasses please - to a new kiwi website, dedicated to enabling peopleto volunteer that most valuable asset to the non profit sector.. professional skills.
skills-exchange.org.nz is the place to go for people to find out how they can donate their skills to provide relief in a variety of critical areas from poverty through to pollution.
For nearly a year, Robin Hood liaised with AUCKLAND UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY and VODAFONE, looking at the worlds best volunteering websites and then - with huge pro-bono assistance from DATACOM - designing something better. The result delivers not only inspiring volunteering opportunities, but a reporting and measurement mechanism that would delight any CEO or board.
AUT has spent nine months developing the volunteering site, taking the experience of the global best and then adding to it. But they needed a business partner to ensure that the result would be intelligent from a business viewpoint. Matching skills to needs, team projects, reporting, risk proofing, usability (for both business and non-profits) – quite a checklist. That willing and focused partner in the nine-month gestation period was Vodafone.
Together they’ve built something that will not only make a difference, but as with Datacom’s involvement, welcomes other partners. And it’s built to last.
