Bread company Goodman Fielder took the challenge up , lifted manufacturing numbers and began delivering their freshest and finest bread to food banks that cover the country.

Targeting areas where literacy level are low Fairfax and New Zealand Kindergartens use a three tiered approach to improve child literacy amongst pre-schoolers across New Zealand.
An inspiring "Have you read to your child today" advertising campaign, supported by new books being gifted to children and book banks being established to recycle good books work in unison to lift literacy levels in the home.

With the support of another non profit New Zealand's Automotive Association (AA) SADD prepares young drivers to think ahead ....so they don't consider combining drinking with driving...or getting into cars with unsafe drivers behind the wheel.

Kids arriving at school ....hungry
School principals were vocal about kids arriving at school hungry resulting in cranky students that can't concentrate or learn. What better response than a dairy company Fonterra and cereal company Sanitarium joining forces , aligning logistics and serving up nearly 800,000 breakfasts a year in schools most affected.

An accidental restaurateur and hero to refugee families
Annie Coates a Burmese immigrant and seven years ago Annie was thrust into a new and unexpected role. Seven years ago she inherited the Golden Lotus, a Thai restaurant in Wellington's Brooklyn, when the owner was forced to return to Thailand for personal reasons. Annie, who had never run a restaurant or a business before, agreed to help her out until the owner returned - which didn't happen/
Since then Annie has run the Golden Lotus because she sees it as an opportunity to train and mentor young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds. Migrants start out under her watchful eye, learning how to wait on tables, prepare food or work in the kitchen. ..serving some of the best Thai food you'll ever find in a warm family atmosphere restaurant.

Give me that calf.....
25 years ago an enterprising IHC supporter walked up a farmer's driveway and asked for a calf to auction for the cause - and his legacy is 5,000 farmers donating annually to support over 45,000 people and their families living with intellectual disability in New Zealand.
The business partner PGG Wrightson raise $300 on average each calf..... they've seen people donate more in times in hardship ... currently raising 1 million dollars a year which stays in its the local area.

Fairfax media - first books
2006- Fairfax Media First Books programme was launched, over 4,500 children from low decile NZKI kindergartens have received wonderful books to take home and read. Fairfax Media First Books is an excellent tool for giving children a great start to thier literacy, providing them with thier own books. Over the last year the program has grown with many more kindergartens around the country now receiving books each term.

A first for NZ – a food manufacturer lifting volumes to supply foodbanks with fresh bread daily to meet the demand for food parcels. they researched need with City Missions and Salvation Army then set up a daily delivery donation to foodbanks throughout NZ ensure that every food parcel going to a family in need has fresh bread in thier food parcel.

ibm - KidSmart programme
The KidSmart programme began in 2004, IBM has donated 268 kidSmart units to early educational centres across the whole of New Zealand. Through thier accompanying technology training programme they have taught over 600 teachers. In 2007 an addional 65 KiSmart units will be donated.
